NEW BRUNSWICK PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT
N.B. Integrated Radio System

LAST UPDATED November 23, 2004

The New Brunswick government operates the New Brunswick Integrated Radio System (NBIRS) with a control centre (PMCC) in Fredericton.  There are four separate departmental networks operating as part of the NBIRS and each is presented here on its own page:

Department of Transportation Network:

In addition the RCMP and Ambulance Services can be patched into the system.  The role of the control centre (PMCC) is to allow units of a particular service or department in one part of the province to contact units in a different area, and to enable patches between the different networks.  In some networks, such as EMO, units in one area can link to another area by self-dialing rather than patching through PMCC.

Here is a description of the PMCC and the separate Power Commission centre from contributor A:

"In Fredericton the Department of Transportation operates the PMCC- Provincial Mobile Communications Center 24/7days a week. It acts as a central dispatch for all call outs for EMO, DOT, DNR, Sheriff/Coroner, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Environment, Corrections, Fire Services and also connects other agencies for the Province of
New Brunswick, Federal/RCMP & Phone patches, paging to the Provincial Agencies. PMCC receives all after hours calls to these Provincial Departments and queries Drivers License Information/Records for DNR as well provides information on records via radio for Parks Canada officers.
The New Brunswick Power Commission also has a central dispatching center which I believe is in Fredericton as well. They dispatch and record information (pole number, outages. etc) for the Provinces Crown Corporation and are able to call up any vehicle from their main dispatch center, this is operated separately from PMCC."
